A graduate of Harvard College and Georgetown University Law Center, he is a member of the Massachusetts and D.C. bars. Formerly an adjunct professor of legal ethics at the Washington College of Law in Washington, D.C., he co-authored The Essential Words and Writings of Clarence Darrow, with Pulitzer Prize-winning historian Ed Larson.
James Comstock has been a longtime advisor and friend to Cary McDonald. That relationship was one of the jumping-off points that led to the formation of the Veteran Legal Group and continues today as the firm looks to find more opportunities to help veterans. Major General Comstock’s active-duty career included assignments in the 82nd Airborne Division, 1st Cavalry Division in the Republic of Vietnam, and Ranger instructor at Ft. Benning. He served in a variety of positions with the 11th Special Forces Group, and at the 6222nd US Army Reserve School. He served as Commanding General of the 311th Corp Support Command and served as US Central Command’s Reserve Component Advisor/Deputy J3 . His awards and decorations include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star with “V” device with two oak leaf clusters, Meritorious Service Medal with three oak leaf clusters, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal with “V” device with five oak leaf clusters, Air Medal-Second Award, Combat Infantryman Badge, Special Forces Tab, Ranger Tab, and the Parachutist Badge.
In his civilian career Major General Comstock, has over 40 years of experience in the insurance, investment and consulting professions. He has consulted in the areas of institutional investments, medical and health products, and defense related issues and items. He is a founding partner and co-owner of Veracor Management LLC, and is a partner in Working Warriors, supporting veterans seeking employment. He graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Marketing and earned a Masters in National Security Studies from California State University, San Bernardino. He is a member of the Scottish Rite, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Reserve Officers Association, California Employer Support of The Guard and Reserve, AUSA, Mission Readiness, and the Sovereign Military Order of The Temple of Jerusalem.
William Cambre is a 35-year veteran of Federal and Local Law Enforcement, having devoted his career to investigating and supervising investigations into major narcotics organizations. His career began with 15 years of local police work in Louisiana, spending much of that time on a narcotics task force working with various other local, state and federal agencies defeating drug traffickers.In 2000, he joined the Drug Enforcement Administration, working criminal narcotics investigations into the highest-level international narcotics organizations. After nine years of bringing violators to justice, he was promoted to DEA Supervisory Special Agent, supervising major narcotics investigations, including Dark Web fentanyl and opioid investigations. He was again promoted to Resident Agent in Charge of a Regional Office, then assigned as Liaison to a high-level Department of Defense Task Force. Mr. Cambre retired in 2020 from the DEA as Supervisor of the DEA Maritime Task Force Group.
Since retiring from DEA, he has done extensive consulting work related to illegal narcotics operations and assisted in the development of various national law enforcement training programs. Mr. Cambre has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Behavioral Science. He is the recipient of the DEA Administrators Award for Achievement, and the Department of Defense Joint Civilian Service Commendation Award.
